Network Cabling
Structured network cabling is the organized installation of twisted-pair copper and fiber optic cables, patch panels, and telecommunications hardware that forms the backbone of your building’s IT infrastructure. It supports data, voice, video, and other low-voltage technology systems.
Systcom installs all major categories of structured cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable, as well as coaxial and specialty low-voltage cabling depending on your specific application requirements.
Project timelines vary based on the size and complexity of the job. A small office with 20-50 drops may take a few days, while a large campus or multi-floor installation could take several weeks. Systcom provides a detailed project timeline during the proposal phase.
Yes. Every cable run we install is tested and certified to meet or exceed industry standards. We provide detailed test results and documentation for your records, which is also required for manufacturer warranty programs.
Systcom partners with industry-leading cable manufacturers that offer extensive product and application warranties, often ranging from 15 to 25 years. We’ll help you determine the best warranty program for your specific installation.
Absolutely. Whether you need to upgrade from Cat5e to Cat6A, add fiber optic backbone cabling, or expand your current cable plant to support new users, Systcom can assess your existing infrastructure and recommend the best upgrade path.
Systcom serves a wide range of industries including corporate enterprise, healthcare, education (K-12 and higher ed), government and federal facilities, retail, industrial, and commercial office environments throughout Maryland, D.C., Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Cat6 supports speeds up to 10 Gbps at distances up to 55 meters, while Cat6A supports 10 Gbps at the full 100-meter distance and offers better resistance to crosstalk and interference. CatA is the recommended choice for new installations that need to support higher bandwidth demands.
Yes. Systcom has extensive experience with both new construction (greenfield) cabling installations and retrofit projects in occupied buildings. Our technicians are trained to work in active environments with minimal disruption to your operations.

Wireless
Systcom provides end-to-end commercial wireless services including wireless LAN (WLAN) design and integration, access point installation, wireless site surveys, heat mapping, coverage verification, and ongoing optimization to ensure reliable Wi-Fi performance.
A wireless site survey is a detailed assessment of your facility to determine optimal access point placement, identify sources of interference, and ensure complete wireless coverage. Systcom uses professional-grade tools to map signal strength and produce heat maps of your space.
Heat mapping is a visual representation of wireless signal strength throughout your facility. Areas of strong signal appear in warm colors (green/yellow) and weak areas appear in cool colors (blue/red). This allows us to identify and resolve coverage gaps and dead zones.
Yes. Systcom can configure separate wireless networks for employees and guests, each with their own security policies, bandwidth limits, and access controls. This keeps your internal network secure while providing convenient internet access for visitors.
We implement enterprise-grade wireless security including WPA3 encryption, 802.1X authentication, network segmentation, rogue access point detection, and role-based access policies. We also ensure your wireless infrastructure is configured in compliance with your organization’s IT security requirements.
Systcom designs and installs wireless networks for facilities of all sizes, from small offices to large multi-building campuses. We’ve provided wireless solutions for corporate headquarters, universities, hospitals, warehouses, and government complexes across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Systcom designs andaYes. Wireless access points require wired connections (typically Cat6 or CatA) back to network switches. A robust structured cabling infrastructure is the foundation of any high-performance wireless network. Systcom can handle both the cabling and wireless components. installs wireless networks for facilities of all sizes, from small offices to large multi-building campuses. We’ve provided wireless solutions for corporate headquarters, universities, hospitals, warehouses, and government complexes across the Mid-Atlantic region.
We recommend a wireless assessment every 2-3 years, or whenever you experience performance issues, add significant square footage, or substantially increase the number of connected devices. Wi-Fi standards evolve regularly, and keeping your infrastructure current ensures optimal performance.
Yes. If you’re experiencing slow speeds, dropped connections, or dead zones, Systcom can perform a wireless assessment to identify the root cause and recommend solutions — whether that’s repositioning access points, adding coverage, or upgrading to newer Wi-Fi standards.
Systcom serves businesses and organizations throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and ‘ennsylvania. Contact us at 1-800-487-9602 to discuss your wireless networking needs.

Absolutely. Systcom has extensive experience designing and deploying certified Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms. We handle everything from hardware selection and installation to configuration and user training to ensure a seamless collaboration experience.
AV integration is the process of combining audio, video, display, control, and networking components into a unified system that works together seamlessly. This includes connecting displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and control interfaces so users can operate the entire system with a single touch panel or device.
Conference room AV costs vary depending on room size, technology requirements, and the level of integration
needed. A basic huddle room setup may start in the low thousands, while a fully integrated executive boardroom
can be a significantly larger investment. Systcom provides detailed proposals tailored to your needs and budget.
Yes. Systcom offers warranty programs and ongoing technical support for all AV installations. We can also set up proactive maintenance schedules to ensure your systems remain in peak operating condition and minimize downtime.
Yes. Systcom designs and installs digital signage solutions for corporate lobbies, campuses, healthcare facilities, and other commercial environments. We handle display mounting, media player configuration, content management system setup, and cabling infrastructure.
Our typical AV project follows a clear process: initial consultation and needs assessment, system design and proposal, client approval, procurement, installation, programming and commissioning, testing, and end-user training. A dedicated project manager oversees each phase.
Yes. Systcom employs AVIXA-certified professionals (CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D) who bring a high level of expertise to every audio visual project. AVIXA is the leading global trade association for the professional AV industry.

Security Systems
Systcom designs, installs, and maintains integrated commercial security systems including electronic access control, intrusion detection and alarm systems, and IP-based video surveillance (CCTV) cameras and network video recorders (NVRs).
An integrated security system connects your access control, intrusion detection, and surveillance cameras so they communicate with each other. For example, if an intrusion sensor is triggered, the surveillance cameras can automatically focus on that area and the access control system can initiate a lockdown – all coordinated automatically.
Yes. Systcom configures all security systems for remote access, so you can view live camera feeds, manage access control permissions, and receive real-time alerts from any internet-connected device, including internet-connected device, smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
Systcom installs a variety of access control technologies including key card and fob readers, biometric systems (fingerprint and facial recognition), PIN-based entry, mobile credential systems, and multi-factor authentication solutions for high-security environments.
Yes. Systcom installs both indoor and outdoor IP cameras, including vandal-resistant, weather-rated models designed for parking lots, building perimeters, loading docks, and other exterior applications. We also provide cameras with night vision, license plate recognition, and analytics capabilities.
Retention periods depend on your NVR storage capacity, the number of cameras, and your recording resolution. Typical systems retain 30 to 90 days of footage. Systcom will design a system that meets your specific retention requirements and can scale storage as needed.
